Police searching for suspected trailer thief in Mooresville

IREDELL COUNTY - The Iredell County Sheriff's Office is searching for man believed to be responsible for stealing multiple trailers in Mooresville.

According to Sheriff Phil Redmond, the Sheriff's Office has received two reports of larceny of trailers from a business located on River Highway since the beginning of April.

Deputies say the suspect in the larcenies is described as a middle aged white male with grey hair, and possibly a beard or goatee.

STATESVILLE - Narcotics detectives with the Iredell County Sheriff's Office arrested and charged eight people for selling heroin in Iredell County after a two month investigation and are still searching for a ninth suspect. 

All eight people arrested - Nathan Albert Ford, Angel Pardue Fulbright, Patricia Brook Baity, Joshua Michael Waugh, William James Squailia, Matthew Lawrence Baker, Michelle Lynn Colella and Justin Lee Melvin - are facing charges in connection with Heroin Distribution in Iredell County, detectives say. 

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Matthew Kirk Rorrer, 22, of the 700 block of Shinneville Road in Mooresville for two counts of selling and delivering heroin.

Easter holiday schedule for city services

STATESVILLE - Statesville City Government offices will be closed Friday, April 22, in observance of Easter holidays.  There will be no garbage collection on that day.

The schedule for garbage collection for the week of April 18-22 is as follows:

For residential routes, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday routes will operate on a regular schedule; Thursday and Friday’s route will run on Thursday.

NC Heritage Fair

STATESVILLE - School age children engage in hands on demonstrations in heritage arts and crafts such as pottery, weaving, butter churning, music, & more.  Heritage demonstrators will be dressed in period costume as they share stories of days gone by, present their skills in heritage arts and crafts, and share NC History in a relatable way.  Approximately 30 heritage demonstrators and artists will present skills such as wood working, herbal gardening, pottery, basketry, quilting, spinning and weaving, log cabin building, music and much more.

Friday after Five summer concert series

Hundreds of jobs come to CLT as unemployment figures are released

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Call it coincidence or strategic planning. As federal labor officials prepare to release the latest state and local unemployment figures, McDonald's is set to offer 50,000 jobs across the country; hundreds in Charlotte alone.

According to Bureau of Labor Statistics, Charlotte's unemployment rate is 10.7% which is higher than both the state (9.7) and national average (8.8).

Tuesday is National Hiring Day at every location of the golden arches. Charlotte has 120 restaurants in the city, which will offer hundreds of jobs.

"We're at least starting to do our part; if we could get every company to do that, we could really help out our economy," Charlotte franchise owner George Forrest said.
