A registered sex offender that was wanted on multiple charges in Iredell County was arrested Sunday during a traffic stop in Mooresville, according to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.
Maurice Johnson, 30, of Williams Road in Statesville was wanted on charges including two counts of failing to register as a sex offender, sex offender on a social website, speeding to elude arrest, driving while license revoked, failing to appear in Superior Court in Iredell County, several driving violations, and other charges, deputies say.
Detectives trying to locate Johnson on these charges discovered that he had moved from his home where he was registered as a sex offender in July of 2012, and another charge, failing to change address, was obtained against him.
On Sunday, Johnson was stopped by Mooresville Police for a traffic violation, deputies told WBTV.
He was arrested on all charges and taken to the Iredell County Jail where he was placed under a $425,000 secure bond.
