Traffic stop leads to arrest, drug charges

STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) - A Statesville man was charged with several drug charges after deputies stopped his vehicle and found heroin in it.

Steven A. Hines, 45, of Statesville, is charged with possession of methamphetamine,
possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for
the possession of controlled substance, possession of more than ½ oz.of
marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and no operators license, according to a news release from the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.

Deptuies stopped Stone during a traffic stop and found Hines had an Ohio drivers
license, however, he has lived in NC for more than 60 days.

During this time, deputies discovered that
there was an outstanding warrant on Hines through Cabarrus County.  Hines was then asked to exit his vehicle
where he was search for weapons and/or other illegal items. 

During the search Hines was found to be in
possession of more than $450 cash in his pocket.

 After further questioning a search of his
vehicle was conducted.  During the search
Sgt. J.V. Dyson located a plastic bag in the rear of the vehicle which
contained 1.1 grams of heroin, three bags of marijuana weighing 22 grams, and
other items of drug paraphernalia.

 

Hines was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he received an $8,000
secured bond.
