Members of the Iredell County Interstate Criminal Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop Friday at about 9:30 a.m. on I-77 South near Mile Marker 66.
During the traffic stop, a Sheriff's Office K-9 made positive indication for the presence and odor of a narcotic to the vehicle.
Deputies conducted a hand search of the vehicle and located four wrapped bundles of US Currency concealed in the transmission area of the vehicle.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle disclaimed any and all knowledge of the US Currency and abonded the contents.
After seizing the packages of US Currency from the vehicle the packages and money were transported to a finiacial facility where an official count was conducted. The total amount of the packages came to $29,000.00
US Customs along with the Iredell County Narcotics Division are conducting follow-up investigation in the case.
